How to

In Differ, we have made a custom chatbot for this very purpose.

Communities with mentor Differ chatbots

The chatbot matches the newly signed up student with a user from a mentor list.

Both get a direct message when a new students signs up. Make sure to say hi as soon as possible.

The mentors are typically senior students who have taken the course before, or TAs in the course, or other people involved in the course that you think are good, friendly people 😊

Communities without mentor bots

If you don't use Differ or similar chatbots, you must do this a bit more manually. Most likely it must include one of the following strategies:

• a general introduction text. Say all questions are welcome to you
• Send direct messages to all users from the onboarded user list
